Meet Tony

Meet Tony

I hold a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Social Work from the University of Victoria. I am a Registered Social Worker (RSW) (Registration Number: 10982) in good standing with the British Columbia College of Social Workers, the provincial regulatory body that protects the public by establishing and supporting high standards for qualified social work professionals.

I am also a member of the British Columbia Association of Social Workers, Canadian Association of Social Workers, and Canadian Sleep Society which keeps me connected to my professional code of ethics, practice standards, new tools, resources, and the latest in research.

I have extensive counselling, mental health treatment, assessment, and advocacy experience with people across the lifespan, from youth to older adults both in non-profits and public health authorities. In addition, I am an instructor at the University of Victoria, serve as a guest lecturer at the University of British Columbia’s School of Social Work, and regularly act as a field supervisor for social workers in training.

I have worked in a variety of settings, including neighborhood houses, community centres, outpatient mental health, and community-based mental health settings, in addition to specialized care settings with older adults, LGBTQ+ identified people, and individuals with severe mental health and substance use issues (concurrent disorders).

As an experienced therapist with a background in social work, my mission is to work collaboratively with you in a non-judgmental, evidence grounded, compassionate, and respectful manner. I bring a social justice lens into therapy because counselling and therapy is not a solution to all problems. And the goal of therapy should never be to help people adjust to oppression.

My therapeutic philosophy is centered around the core belief that people are capable of change, growth, and reflection. My goal is to welcome you to a friendly, inclusive practice that supports your mental wellness.

In my non-work life, I am a dad, avid reader, and exercise regularly (mostly for a better night’s sleep and to keep up with my energetic toddler). I also have a keen interest in wearable technology, behavioral sleep science, and mental wellness.
